World premiere performance of Barber’s Fantasie for Two Pianos. ICAMus grants its sponsorship to Duo Keira and their Festival, opening in Rome, February 27, 2015.

Upcoming world premiere modern performance of the early Fantasie for Two Pianos by Samuel Barber. ICAMus grants its sponsorship to the Duo Keira (Michela Chiara Borghese and Sabrina De Carlo, pianos) and their Festival in Rome opening on February 27, 2015. The three concerts comprising the Festival take place at the Teatro di Villa Torlonia. Please see poster and program for detailed information.

On this time of the year devoted to Barber projects, ICAMus is pleased to announce a new program by Duo Keira taking place in Rome. ICAMus and Capricorn, the French Samuel Barber Society are endorsing Michela Chiara Borghese and Sabrina De Carlo for their outstanding commitment, and their performance of American music. Their programs often feature multifaceted relationships between American and European twentieth century piano music.

Samuel Barber (1910-1981). Fantasie for Two Pianos, Written in the Style of Josef Haydn, H-21 (1924).

The piece was first performed by 14-year-old Samuel Barber and his mother, Daisy Barber, at New Century Club, West Chester, Pennsylvania, on 29 April 1924. It remained unpublished until its inclusion in the volume Samuel Barber: Early Piano Works, ed. Richard Walters, G. Schirmer, Inc., 2010; Rev. Edition in: Samuel Barber: Complete Piano Music, G. Schirmer, Inc., 2010.
