The remarkable career of a great tenor in Europe and in the Americas.

Tuscan tenor Amedeo Bassi (1872-1949) was an exceptionally gifted singer who mastered a very large operatic repertoire; during the last years of his career, in the 1920's, he excelled in Wagnerian roles, both in Italy and in Germany. Acclaimed by audiences and critics worldwide, he championed and premiered numerous new operas by modern composers. To Amedeo Bassi a museum has been devoted by his native town of Montespertoli, near Florence, displaying costumes, photographs, scores, librettos, documents, correspondence and impressive scrapbooks that feature his remarkable international career in Europe and in the Americas.
