The program "Songs from a Lost World of Italian Jewish Composers" was co-sponsored by DAS - Dante Alighieri Society, Michigan Chapter and Wayne State Cohn-Haddow Center for Judaic Studies, with the support of the Italian Program at Wayne State. Under the auspices of the Italian Consulate in Detroit. In collaboration with ICAMus; Aloma Bardi, research scholar. Temple Beth El, Maas Chapel, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
Featuring works by composers who emigrated to the Americas to escape Nazi deportation. They became American Jewish Composers:
Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco (Florence 1895 - Beverly Hills, California 1968); in the United States from 1939, he became an American citizen in 1946.
Italian Brazilian composer Renzo Massarani (Mantova 1898 - Rio de Janeiro 1975); in Brazil from 1939, he became a Brazilian citizen in 1945.
Vittorio Rieti (Alexandria, Egypt 1898 - New York 1994); in the United States from 1940, he became an American citizen in 1944.
Also featuring works by prominent European composer, Leone Sinigaglia (Torino, 1868-1944).
