ICAMus remembers American opera composer Solomon Epstein on the first anniversary of his death (December 21, 2018).

In memory of Solomon Epstein (1939-2018): American composer, synagogue cantor, music educator, friend, who died a year ago. Dr. Epstein (1939-2018) donated all of his unpublished music manuscripts and his papers to ICAMus.

“October turned my maple’s leaves to gold…” ICAMus remembers Charles Ives on his birthday and recalls the highlights of the Center’s Ivesian events over the years.

Maple Leaves; poem by Thomas Bailey Aldrich, music by Charles Ives; No. 23 of Charles Ives, 114 Songs (1922). The beautiful autumnal feeling of a song, as we remember great American composer Charles Ives on his birthday (October 20, 1874). His music and his philosophy are endlessly innovative.

Most of this program was premiered in Rome, a collaboration ICAMus-Sapienza Università di Roma, June 2018.

The new ongoing ICAMus program includes numerous rarities and emphasizes the prominence of American women poets and composers.

The Florence project, American Art Song: Poets and Composers from the United States, directed by Aloma Bardi and Nicole Panizza, is a collaboration of ICAMus with the Lyceum Club Internazionale Firenze and The University of Florence. The opening event will take place May 18, 2020 in Florence, Palazzo Adami Lami, home to the Lyceum.
