Announcement of upcoming ICAMus events 2024-2025, with a gallery of past major events.
The Center announces new major events in 2024-2025, following the donation of the Organization's Library and Archive to the City of Prato, Italy, and the opening of the new American Music Center (Centro di Documentazione sulla Musica Americana) on May 18, 2024. We are working with young performers to promote an innovative look at American music. Introducing Florentine pianist BENIAMINO IOZZELLI, who on 26 October 2024 plays in Prato, Palazzo della Musica, a program in collaboration with ICAMus, that includes Chopin, Skrjabin and George Crumb, where American music is seen as an integral part of the international musical narrative. ICAMus also renews its collaboration with the Lyceum Club Internazionale Firenze on an Ives lecture-concert event on April 14, 2025, following the all-Castelnuovo-Tedesco concert program, May 20, 2024. The Rhapsody in Blue Centennial is celebrated with a bibliographic exhibit opening in Prato on September 18, 2024; the display remains visible until February 12, 2025.

The Center celebrates our 2021-2022 events. Among the highlights, the première video-recording of Anthony Philip Heinrich’s works for organ solo (comp. 1850-51); the première performance and video-recording of Sectional Resonance for the Organ (2019) by Jerome N. Margolis; two video presentations by Luca Bragalini with the University of Michigan, in honor of Martin Luther King Day 2022; the inaugural event of American Poets Set to Music by American Composers at the Florence Lyceum on May 16, 2022. The content of the events (lectures, presentations, videos) is being made available on our Website and YouTube Channel.

The Center announced new events in 2019-2020, following the large resonance of the June 12-14, 2018 Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco conference and concerts at Sapienza Università di Roma:
Aloma Bardi's paper on Castelnuovo-Tedesco's musical and cultural America, presented in Rome on June 13, 2018, where it raised lively interest among all the participants, was published in a volume of conference proceedings (L'ignoto iconoclasta. Studi su Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Alessandro Avallone and Gianluca Bocchino, Editors, LIM-Libreria Musicale Italiana, Lucca 2019). This contribution explores a new field of research and interacts with the ICAMus Website, as part of an imaginative format, experimented by arrangement with the publisher and the book editors.
The publication on the ICAMus website of Barbara Boganini's talk, Giacomo Puccini and Amedeo Bassi: Tuscan Connections in American Music, successfully presented on January 21, 2018 at the Museo Caruso in Lastra a Signa, Florence, Italy.

ICAMus celebrated Florence-Born American Composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco (1895-1968) on the 50th anniversary of his death (16 March 1968).
The Center collaborated with Università di Roma “Sapienza” and Assonanze, on three days of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco events in Rome, June 12-14, 2018, featuring two recitals of rare songs for voice and piano (liriche) some of which are still unpublished.
