Recording sessions for a new Early American Music program in Florence.

At the Origins of Art Music for the Flute in North America: An Early American Music program, 1800-1858, is being recorded in Florence this summer, at the historic Villa Favard of Rovezzano, one of the buildings of the Conservatorio di Musica "Luigi Cherubini" di Firenze. ICAMus and the Florence Conservatory of Music are collaborationg on this project, integrating research, performance, teaching, and recording of Early-Romantic American Music.

Works by Edward Riley (1769-1829), Benjamin Carr (1768-1831; in America from 1793), Anthony Philip Heinrich (1781-1861), Stephen Collins Foster (1826-1864).

The performers are: Amelia Burns, soprano; Kyle Sullivan (baritone); Viola Shaula Valerio (flute); Anna Toccafondi (solo piano, piano accompaniment, ensemble direction); a project by Aloma Bardi.

This is the first program carried out by ICAMus within the recently-established Affiliation Agreement with the Music Conservatory of Florence.
