Foster Seminar, Pre-Concert Lecture and Performance in Prato, Italy.

Dr. Paolo Somigli, Assistant Professor of Musicology and Music History at the Facoltà di Scienze della Formazione of the Libera Università di Bolzano – Bressanone, will teach a Seminar at the School on 10/01/2011; this educational event is addressed to the teachers and students of the School, and is not open to the general audience.
The Associazione Culturale "I Fiori Musicali" a non-profit organization that promotes musical education, participates in this seminar as well. Dr. Marta Poggesi, American-music specialist and pianist, will introduce the concert in a public presentation, Teatro Magnolfi, Prato on Saturday 10/22/2011 at 5:00 pm.
The Foster performance will follow.
The program includes a selection of Parlor and Minstrel songs, as well as more seldom performed patriotic, social, and religious pieces.
Issues of instrumentation, voicing and authenticity are addressed.
The project is part of the ongoing ICAMus research on American music of the Pre-Civil War and Civil War era.
This educational program is carried out under the constant supervision of ICAMus experts.
