World première of “That Their Memory Be Blessed. For the Victims: The Tree of Life Temple” by Jerome N. Margolis in Venice, Old Ghetto, conducted by Davide Casali.

That Their Memory Be Blessed. For the Victims: The Tree of Life Temple, Pittsburgh, PA, for string orchestra (composed: October 30, 2018) premiered in Venice, Old Ghetto, by the Orchestra Regionale Filarmonia Veneta conducted by Jewish-and-Holocaust-music specialist, Davide Casali. The performance, within the Festival Viktor Ullmann, is a collaboration with ICAMus and with the composer.

American composer Jerome N. Margolis (born in 1941) wrote That Their Memory Be Blessed in the aftermath of the Pittsburgh Synagogue mass shooting that took place on October 27, 2018.

Dr. Margolis donated this unpublished and unperformed score to the ICAMus Archive, as part of a major donation of his works.

The concert, featuring a program of rare pieces, takes place at the Sala Montefiore of the Old Ghetto (Ghetto Vecchio) in Venice, Italy. Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 6:30 pm; free admission.
